High School Competition

The Terps Fearless Challenge is the University of Maryland Moot Court Team’s annual high school moot court competition. Students from across the region travel to the University of Maryland, College Park to argue a constitutional law case before panels of judges in a simulated appellate courtroom setting.

In the months leading up to the competition, each participating school is paired with a current UMD Moot Court member who serves as a coach and mentor. Competitors develop legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills while preparing arguments on a case problem adapted from the American Moot Court Association. Top finishers in the competition are eligible for scholarships should they choose to attend the University of Maryland.
